The work group “Process Simulation” specializes in the modelling and simulation of powder technological manufacturing process and the calculation of fracture probability of ceramics. For our simulations we use both commercial software and in house-developed scripts. The processes that we can offer numerical studies are:
- Hot isostatic pressing (HIP)
- Sintering: Solid phase sintering, Liquid phase sintering, Field Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST), Co-sintering
- Powder flow, e.g. Die und HIP-Capsule filling
- Powder compaction
- Geometry optimization for die and HIP-capsule
- Fracture probability and lifetime structures made from advanced ceramics and other brittle materials
Running projects:
Field Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) of Gadolinium doped Cerium-oxide (GDC)
Mesoscopic sinter simulation of sintered steels
Co-sintering of metal-ceramic laminates with consideration of aniso-tropic shrinkage
Completed projects:
Minimierung des Verzugs beim Sintern durch Beeinflussung der Sinterunterlage (de)
