The working group Process Technology analyses powder technology manufacturing processes, starting from the powder up to the component. The research focus lies on the understanding of the effects of process parameters or different manufacturing processes on the microstructure, the mechanical properties and the reliability of components. The range of materials includes metallic and ceramic materials as well as composites.
The work group “Process Simulation” specializes in the modelling and simulation of powder technological manufacturing process and the calculation of fracture probability of ceramics.
The working group Hardmetal and MMC deepens the understanding of the material WC-Co-hardmetal. On the one hand, the internal stresses during the cooling process are determined by means of FEM simulation. On the other hand, the influence of the different production methods on the microstructure and mechanical properties of hard metals is investigated.
