The Institute has long-time experience in the interpretation of microstructures of metals, ceramics and composites. For this we use various analysis methods:
- Light optical microscopy with 25-1000x magnification (bright field, dark field, polarized light, DIC)
- Scanning electron microscopy (SE, BSE) with energy dispersive X-ray analysis
- Image analysis to determine the phase share, porosity density, grain size and purity
- Micro hardness
- X-ray diffraction (XRD)
- Determination of density with Archimedes-method, helium-pycnomety, mercury-high-pressure-porosimetry
We offer these analyses in connection with thermophysical analysis as well.
